
[DatiPlus](https://dati-plus.com/) designs connected devices to protect workers evolving in dangerous environments.

To achieve this, DatiPlus partners with Securitas, one of the biggest security company in the world. When an alert is raised on the device, Securitas can handle it and dispatch a team to save the worker in danger.

Until now, new devices enrollments involved to manually fill a PDF form and send it by e-mail to Securitas services. Hence, 48 hours were needed before the device could be operational with Securitas. In 2022, Securitas introduced a REST API to automate this process.

My work involved to understand their specification and create a synchronization bridge between DatiPlus plaform and Securitas API.

After this, we were able to reduce the enrollment time of a new device to only a **few seconds**. Every updates are now automatically reported in the Securitas API so the two companies stay in sync to better protect their customers.


Securitas API integration


[Groupe Briand](https://www.groupebriand.fr/) is the leading company in France for metal, wood and concrete building.

To remain competitive at the cutting edge of innovation, they needed a new computing platform allowing their engineers to define and execute calculations and experiments to improve the design of future buildings.

The goal was to provide a platform where engineers could easily add new functions and computations that would then be automatically available as a REST API or a web interface.

To achieve this, I designed a complete architecture based on the [web-queue-worker model](/blog/create-deploy-reliable-data-ingestion-service-fastapi-sqlmodel-dramatiq).

By using Celery, the most popular task runner in Python, engineers are able to schedule long and complex computations using scientific Python libraries like Numpy or Pandas. Scalability is also built-in: if we need to process more tasks, we just to need to run more workers.

The main challenge with this project was to provide a way to automatically discover functions defined by engineers so they are automatically picked up the REST API. For this, we implemented utility decorators that are responsible to declare the functions to the FastAPI API. By using type hints on the function, we even are able to automatically define a validation schema on the API.


Computation platform


[Juniper](https://www.juniperplatform.com/) builds software for behavioral health clinicians to improve quality of care. They streamline and replace manual efforts so clinicians can focus on what they do best: providing high-quality care.

In 2022, they decided to migrate their API backend from Flask to FastAPI. To keep on track and apply the best practices of this innovative framework, I answer all the questions the development team might have through **a dedicated Slack channel**. This way of working has proved very effective as I can deliver high-quality answers with lot of details and example code snippets.


FastAPI advisor


During the Covid-19's pandemic, French schools were not able to organize the traditional class photo. To help with this, we built in only **a week** a complete online service where teachers could register and ask parents to securely upload a photo of their child. After that, our system was able to generate a photo with every pupils, available to download for every families.

## From a technical point-of-view

* Development of a sports tournament management app with the Symfony 2 framework in 5 months thanks to a solid experience on this techonology.
* Solving of a complexe problem of games planification on time slots and playgrounds, by developing a binary search algorithm.
* Optimization of the app speed and user experience to handle 100 users per day and pikes provoked by tournaments (up to 200 users at the same time): use of websockets to limit calls to the server, use of a scalable cloud platform (Heroku).
* Monitoring tools setup to track performance (New Relic) and errors (logs handled by Papertrail and errors reported on Slack).
